Ten years earlier Nina was 18 walking home from a movie with her friends. She walked by a dark ally a man grabbed her and through her against the wall. She cried out he put a knife to her neck “Shhhhh.. Be quiet I’m not going to hurt you.” She nodded tears rolled down her eyes as the man dragged her deeper into an alley than she felt the man being ripped off her and thrown against the wall. She heard the man let out a scream and than she seen him thrown against the dumpster. She looked into the darkness and seen a man walk out into the light it was Brandon she ran after him and grabbed his hand. “Hey! Thanks who are you.” Brandon looked at her and smiled “I’m no one. I just seen you needed help so I figured id help you.” He pulled a way Nina ran in front of him “Wait!” Brandon looked at her “I have to go.” Nina smiled “well… at least let me buy you a coffee?” Brandon smiled at her “I guess.” They walked to the coffee shop where they laughed and smiled Nina smiled at Brandon.
In the next few months Brandon hung out with Nina more and more He tried to tell himself it was to make sure she was safe. He knew that was a lie because every time it was harder for him to leave. One cold December night on Christmas eve the snow was coming down hard. Nina and Brandon were holding hands in The whole town was lit up with Christmas lights. Nina smiled at Brandon as she looked into his eyes “I can’t think of any where else I’d rather be than with you right now.” Brandon smiled back and kissed her. She grabbed on to him “Can I stay with you tonight.” Brandon was about to say no but he couldn’t hide how he felt before he knew he had never felt this way. “Yeah.. I’d like that a lot.”
They cuddle by the Christmas tree at Brandon’s apartment. They started to kiss on Brandon’s bed. Nina smiled “I never felt this way before about any one.” Brandon shook with nervousness “I Haven’t either it just feels so right.” I….love you and want to be with you more than anything.” Nina smiled and kissed Brandon. They started to make out and that led to them eventually sleeping together. After words Nina cuddle with Brandon. “I love you more than anything for once in my life I am actually truly happy.” Brandon smiled the next they celebrating a great Christmas together.
In the next few years Brandon and Nina were never not seen together. All of their friends thought they would last forever. Nina had just turned twenty 6 months earlier. Her and Brandon were holding hands they went to the cliff on of there favorite hang out place. Nina looked straight ahead “I have to tell you something I feel as if you have my whole heart so I want you to know.” Brandon starred at her intently. Nina’s eyes started to well up. “The reason… why my parents were never around was my mom died when she gave birth to me… My father was a drunk.. He also … sob” Nina started to bawled Brandon stopped her “I know what he was I know all about you.” Nina pushed him away “What!?” Brandon looked at her intently “You were born of darkness that is why your mother passed away giving birth to you. Your father did those things to you because they were the darkest things possible. When you are born to hold in the darkness you have to endure than ultimately rise above and defeat it like you did to your father.” Nina looked shocked “I… didn’t do anything.. One night the house caught fire something to do with the wires in my fathers room. I ran out the window I never looked back.” Brandon nodded. Nina screamed and pounded his chest “How do you know all this?! What do you mean Darkness!” Brandon stood up and trembled
“I lied to you… I never went to school… I was never from your town. I was sent to watch you to protect you. I was never supposed to get close It just happened I fell in love with you.” Brandon sighed “The darkness is the strongest of the 6 elements God takes care of the elements through us the guardians. Until the time they turn 21 inside their host than the cycle must start over again.” Nina screamed “So all this was a lie you never loved me! What are you!?” Brandon stood up and starred at her “No, I love you more than anything.. That is why this is so hard to tell you.” Brandon stood up and took his shirt off the cross glowed a dark red and black it started to catch fire Brandon let out a scream as the darkness swirled around him and formed his costume.
He reached out to Nina “Don’t be scared I have one more thing to tell you and its going to my break my heart more than anything.” Nina shook. “When your twenty-first birthday arrives. You will die there is nothing I can do. It kills me to know I can’t protect you but it’s Gods will and I…” Nina ran towards him and whispered to him “I love you so much.. I felt I was different I just want to spend my last days with you I am so thankful you made me the happiest girl in the whole world.” Brandon’s costume vanished in the night sky. He kissed Nina they both have tears in there eyes and walked home from the cliff.
The night before Nina’s 21 birthday it was eleven thirty at Night. Brandon was holding Nina’s hand. The sky opened up it started to snow all over the streets. Brandon looked at Nina with a tear in his eyes. “You don’t have to do this! you can run I will try for as long as i can to hide you. Maybe some day we can be together again?” Nina held on to him “No… I am ready. I know it is the way it has to be. My life has been so hard but the worst thing for me.. will be leaving you. I don’t know what I’ll do your the only thing I live for. Your the only thing that matters to me any more.” She started to sob.
Brandon held on to her and kiss her. “Are you sure.?” Nina nodded “Yes, I don’t want you to have to suffer because of me. “I just hope our time together has have saved you. when I met you, you had so much hurt inside and now it’s as if it was gone.” Brandon smiled “I love you, you made it all fade away they embraced and kissed.
The clock in the town struck 11:59 Nina closed her eyes a tear came down as she kissed and held on tight to Brandon. The clock struck midnight
the sky started to turn bright red. All the people on the street froze as if they had frozen into time. The snow turned to small fire balls it landed down on the street. Brandon pushed Nina off of him and nodded to her. Three men in the street caught on fire their bodies started to transform into ghoulish looking demons armor surrounded there bodies their eyes shined a dark crimson red all three of the knights pulled out there swords.
They marched towards Nina. One spoke to Blackend “Your job is done. God requests your return we will take it from here soldier.” Brandon looked towards Nina the three knights surrounded her. Nina screamed “I wont run!” The knights beat her down into the ground. The head knight looked at her and smiled he pulled off his mask. Than Nina seen the face she feared more than anything. It was her fathers face “Hello beautiful did you miss me.” Nina let out a blood curdling scream. The knight pulled his blade as the other one smashed her face back into the ground.
Brandon looked with tears in his eyes and started to walk away. Than he heard Nina let out another scream. He stopped and started to shake
The knight smiled at Nina “You have been sentence to die.. By the higher court we will make it swift your pain will finally end young one. Good bye.”
Nina screamed “Please daddy, I promise I wasn’t a bad girl please don’t hurt me.” Brandon stopped the darkness swirled around his body and surrounded him his costume formed. The cross glowed a bright red and was on fire. Nina closed her eyes as the knight raised his blade. Than three dark swords ran through the knights chest the knight fell to the ground and fell over the blade he was using fell beside. The other two knights looked startled and turn around to see Blackend staring at them with a sword formed in his hands. Nina stood back up “What are you….” Blackend screamed “Run.. as fast as you can. I’ll protect you I made that promise a long time ago I don’t plan to let you down now. Run god damn it!” Nina nodded and took off into the darkness. The knights ran towards Blackend he jumped in the air and lifted one of the knights in the air and snapped his neck against the ground. The other knight drew his sword “Do you have any idea what you have you have done.!” “You have betrayed God.. And the truce Why would you do such a thing!? Blackend pulled his sword “The world needs to change. It can’t stay the way it is it’s a damned world. I can’t let you take the one thing away that made my world bearable. The knight growled and lunged at Blackend he dodged the blade and stuck him through the chest the last knight fell to the ground. The Earth started to tremble Blackend looked up to the sky it ripped open.
A angel flew down from the heavens it appeared to be as beautiful as one of the angels on a church wall, but Blackend could see it’s was a hideous angel it’s face was made up of a skull covered in maggots and roaches it had black armor with a skull on it on. “You have no Idea what kind of treason you have committed and why to be a hero?” Blackend pulled his blade the angel laughed and froze Blackend in time. “You were made to be rightous.. you have no idea what you have done to God’s plan.” “for your sins we will send you to a town full of corruptness if you can save it you will have your salvation. God damns you good luck hero.” Laughter could be heard as the scene turns to dark.
Present day Brandon’s keys fell to the ground. He mouth was wide open in shock his eyes started to well up in tears. Nina jumped up from the bed and stood for a moment staring at Brandon. Than she ran towards him and jumped in his arms he pushed her hair back and just smiled at her “Is it really you.. I never thought I’d see you again? I don’t even know what to say.. How is this possible!” Nina told him to hush and kiss him she had the biggest smile on her face “I never expected to see you again. Your boss called me earlier today and set up plans so I could see you. I was so excited I thought at first he had to have been mistaken I had my doubts. Now all can think of is how much you make me smile.” Brandon kissed Nina again he picked her up she giggled. “I have to take you to get your favorite Latte, I still remember exactly what you like!” She smiled “That sound so delicious!”
Brandon and Nina set at the coffee shop they couldn’t keep their eyes off each other their hearts finally felt whole again. Brandon starred out the Window Nina asked him “What’s wrong!” Brandon smiled back at her “I don’t know I just had this weird feeling we were being watched.” Nina grabbed his hands “The only thing that has been watching you is me silly!” Brandon looked away than back towards her “I have so much to tell you. So much has went on since I have seen you.” Nina held his hands tight “I have a lot to tell you too! It can wait though I am tired I just want to go back to your place and cuddle with you and never let you go hehe!” Brandon smiled at her “Yeah I don’t want to over weilm you. That sounds great to me we can talk more tomorrow.” Brandon and Nina left the Coffee Bar holding each other tight as they walked back to Brandon’s place. Above them a dark figure followed them jumping from building to building. Brandon’s senses were right someone had been following them ever sense they left their apartment. They stood out side Brandon’s apartment kissing.
The dark figure had a smile on his face as the moonlight covered him Mayor Carter in vampire form smiled at the couple. Than he thought to himself “Love it is the most beautiful thing in this world. Just feeling it once makes your soul burn alive. The spark, the lust, the chemistry it just all collides together to make people feel as if they can rise above it all. The sad thing is as great as it fills its destined to fall apart. Some times more slowly than others but at the end it will crumble away Leaving hate, pain ,sadness. Its what love is it’s a fire it consumes it victims than leaves them lifeless, soulless, poor souls of the world. I stare down at Brandon I almost want to leave him be let him enjoy his moment at happiness let him enjoy the most greatest thing that can ever happen to a man.”
Mayor Carter’s face than lit up “I realize its far to late for that. The time will come soon after I know for certain that his heart is completely hers. Than I will take her away. I will watch your break I will rip it up inside and watch it shatter piece by piece into nothingness. When I am done your world will fade a way into nothingness and you will be another one of those poor souls. Not tonight though, but it is coming soon hero very oh very soon.”
The mayor faded away into the darkness leaving the two lovers together.
